With the unveiling of Depression Cherry only a few short weeks away, Baltimore born dream-pop outfit Beach House have begun streaming two new singles via their website. The tracks, “PPP” and “Beyond Love,” are available via a “Single Finder” function–to listen, fans need only select three of the band’s previous songs. The site will then determine, based on the songs selected, which single will be sampled, and that includes the previously released “Sparks” as well.

Choosing the songs, “Wild,” “Ten Mile Stereo,” and “One the Sea,” yielded “Beyond Love”; while “Apple Orchard,” “Something’s Last A Long Time,” and “Home Again,” offered up “PPP.”

Sonically, both tracks build on the polished confidence that Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand manifested in 2012’s Bloom, but as this is the duo’s fifth project together, there is a tangible maturity and cohesiveness in both songs. “Beyond Love” is an instant classic; the first twenty seconds of the song alone are a sublime sea of droning synthesizers, interrupted occasionally by the heart-wrenching weeping of a glowing electric guitar. Then there is, “PPP,” which unravels itself to rely heavily upon the ethereal beauty of Legrand’s sweet croons, her vocalizations lulling dreamily alongside the warm explosions of keyboards and guitars.

Depression Cherry is out August 28 via Sub Pop. Beach House have four upcoming show dates at the Fonda Theatre Dec. 9, 10, 11, and 12. Get tickets here.
