Los Angeles alt-rockers CASINOS have a new video for the song “It’s Fun” and we are debuting it here at Grimy Goods.

“Max, the videos director had previously contacted us stating that he would like to make us a video,” the band told Grimy Goods. “He lives in New York I believe and goes to school there as well. He made a few treatments for us and landed on the one we see today. It was pretty much free reign to him, we weren’t really involved that much in the process of the video. Someone made some art to go with the art that we made and it wasn’t terrible so we thought we’d go ahead and use it.”

Their debut album An Album was slated to come out late last year but was pushed back until April 29, the band said. “We recorded it in Oakland last April with our friend Derek (Schultz) from Owl Paws…he engineered, mixed, and produced the record.”

CASINOS’ six-track self-titled debut from 2014 was engineered by former Rilo Kiley bandmember Pierre de Reeder at Kingsize North Studios in Eagle Rock, so a departure to the Bay Area was a bit of a change.

“As you’ll be able to tell from listening to it I think we thrive off having an eclectic vibe. If there was any consistency through the album, we’d say maybe an idea of post-punk disco is apparent.”

Eclectic is a great way to describe this band. They’ve got a diverse sound, almost a little bit like Sacramento ’90s rockers Cake without the horns. At least, vocalist Kreider Dane has a similar voice to Cake singer John McCrea.

You can catch CASINOS live in Los Angeles at the Lyric Theatre on April 9 with Kid Cadaver and Private Island as part of a KROQ Locals Only and WFNM show. Tickets are priced at $10.00 for the 18-and-older show, which starts at 8 PM. Don’t miss out!
