The Drowning Men at Bar Pink – Photo Gallery and Review

Um, excuse me, why didn’t I catch these guys during the 10 years I lived in San Diego? The Drowning Men are fuckin’ rad. Love the vox, love keyboards, love the guitars, love the drums, and I absolutely love their style. They have a very raw indie sound that can rock your soul and even throw you into a magical loop of just beautiful music.

Their short instrumental “Oracle Meets The Weeping Willow,” off their latest album “The Beheading Of The Song Bird”, is so creepy-beautiful. With delicate, yet haunting piano keys, it sounds like it should be in a Tim Burton flick. I’m diggin’ their song “Rita.” Pushing the vox, Nato has some very appealing and very powerful vocals in this song, paired with the explosive instrumentation of sound, that at times breaks into nothing but steady drums and vocals, this tune is pretty damn fresh. Check out the video below of their song “Standing In Your Mold.” It’s an amazing song.

They have a show coming up in Long Beach at the Prospector on Feb. 27, be sure to catch them live! I know I’ll be there.
