Secret Headquarters has been hailed as the classiest comic book shop around, and damn is it ever! The warm space has leather chairs and dark wooden shelves holding tons of comics and graphic novels. On Friday, they featured The Art of Lisa Hanawalt and offered up free beer and whiskey. Her art is captivating and clever, and people are definitely taking notice! The shop filled up fast and little dots were flying up quicker than you can say “dang, I want that one!”
Lisa’s work will be on display at Secret Headquarters for the rest of the month, so next time you’re stomping around Silver Lake, check it out and see what happens when Bird and Guts try to make friends.
If you’re usually on the West Side, her drawings will also be featured in Giant Robot’s “Year of the Tiger” at GR2, running from Feb 13 – March 10, with a reception on Feb 13th from 6:30 – 10 pm.
