If you don’t know or appreciate who the New York Dolls are and what they’ve done for punk, glam and rock and roll as a whole, I suggest you go pick up the book Please Kill Me and get some history in your head. I can’t deny how stoked I was when I saw that the New York Dolls are playing the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday, June 14, 2011. I haven’t seen these guys since my trip to Paris in 2006 where they played at the Olympia (yep, it was rad).

Well now it’s 70s glam-punk meets 80s butt-rock (well, at least that’s what my friends and I call 80s hair bands). The New York Dolls will be playing with Mötley Crüe and Poison at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday, June 14. I don’t care much for the other two bands (especially Bret Michaels) but I’ll definitely get wild to some “Trash” and “Looking for a Kiss” amongst other Dolls classics.

The Dolls will be touring in celebration of their fifth studio album, Dancing Backward in High Heels (on 429 Records). It’s rad that they continue to make music, but it just ain’t the same compared to the old goodies featuring the late and great, Johnny Thunders. But I still love me some Dolls regardless.

Tickets are not on sale yet, but you can purchase them here when they are available. Check back later for the ticket sales date!
