If you have yet to bless your ears with the spectacular African orchestrations of Tinariwen, I highly suggest you enter this contest to win a free pair of tickets to Tinariwen this Saturday, Oct. 29 (8pm) at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex. They’ve done two Los Angeles shows in the past few months and this may be their last one for a while.
Tinariwen was formed in 1979 by group members from Tessalit, an oasis in the Sahara Desert in northern Mali. The group draws some rad music from rock as well as African and Middle Eastern music mixing acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass, drums, and gnarled picking patterns from West African lutes. Yeah, dope!
SPECIAL GUESTS: Sophie Hunger and DUBLAB DJS: Nanny Cantaloupe & Sun Araw with a visual art presentation by Vince McKelvie. Tickets are $25 – $45 and can be purchased by calling the Luckman Box Office at 323-343-6600 or via Ticketmaster, or you can win a free pair below!
