Rumors went wild today with the closing of the Music Box. We’ve reached out to our friends that own and manage the Music Box but have yet to hear back from them to get the real story. Rest assured, as soon as we get the solid info, we’ll update this post. Until then, Goldenvoice has released a very brief official statement about the matter. Let’s cross our fingers that the Music Box stays alive. It’s a great legendary Hollywood concert venue that has held some of the best shows in Los Angeles. You asked for my favorite memory, and while it’s hard to ignore TVOTR on the Cookie Mountain tour, MMJ on a couple occasions, The Raconteurs, Turbonegro and so many more, I think mine has to be the Queens of the Stone Age benefit show for Natasha Shneider, which featured PJ Harvey, Tenacious D, Matt Cameron, Chris Goss, Brody Dalle and Boots Electric himself, Jesse Hughes. It was an emotionally cathartic night, spanning the history of both QOTSA and the Desert Sessions recordings, and I felt really lucky to have been there.
