Dubbed the “spiritual love child of Sade and D’Angelo,” Goapele creates music that fuses jazz, soul and hip-hop with her own beautiful poetry, as showcased on her recent release, Break of Dawn. Lucky for you, Goapele will be headlining the El Rey Theatre this Thursday, Aug. 2 with support from DJ Carisma, Yuna and KCRW’s Garth Trinidad. Doors are at 8pm and the show kicks off at 9pm.
