The Replacements Reunite and Announce Reunion Shows

After 22 long years, the Replacements have announced they will reunite to play a set of reunion shows. The Minneapolis post-punk rockers announced yesterday that they will play their first shows in 22 years at Riot Fest in Toronto (24-25 August), Chicago (13-15 September) and Denver (21-22 September). Lead singer/guitarist Paul Westerberg has said that the band does not rule out touring or recording a new album.

In 2012 the Replacements had reformed, and singer Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson were recorded an EP containing song covers. Titled Songs for Slim, the EP was released this past April in a 250-copy edition of 10″ vinyl and auctioned online to benefit former Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap, who had suffered a stroke. The EP is now available through Amazon.

The reunion shows will feature Westerberg and Stinson, the rest of the touring line-up will be announced shortly. After Riot Fest, we definitely think there will be a Los Angeles Replacements show popping off. Stay tuned …
