The riot grrrl prodigy, Kathleen Hanna is back with a new music project — the Julie Ruin — and it kicks ass. We know because we saw their raucous sold-out show last night at the Echoplex, which by the way got moved from the Echo to accommodate more folks.
The longtime Bikini Kill songstress started the Julie Ruin in the ’90s as a side project, but now has decided to collaborate with former bassist and friend, Kathi Wilcox, to create femme-punk, head-bobbing, hip-shaking songs. Their debut album, Run Fast was released on September 3rd, advocating feminism and self-empowerment — and yes, it fucking rules.
