Not only is Sharon Jones one amazing soul sister, but she’s a darn tough cookie too. Recently diagnosed with cancer, Sharon Jones put off her tour and new record on hold, but now after a successful operation, ongoing treatment, and the continued support of friends, family, and fans, Sharon Jones is back. So we’d like to tell that cancer to “Retreat”! In early May we shared Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings’ new song, “Retreat” — it’s a passionate soul number sure to make those hips sway with fury. Now the fierce song has become an awesome animated video. Watch it below!
Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings’ new record, Give the People What They Want is scheduled for a January 14, 2014 release followed by Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings’ triumphant return to the stage on February 6th at the Beacon Theater in New York City, their first show in nearly a year. Let’s hope for some L.A. dates too!
