The Casady sisters Sierra and Bianca, otherwise known as CocoRosie, will be headlining the Fonda Theater on Tuesday, October 29. The duo incorporate sounds from hip hop, pop, electronica, and opera to create their own original sound from which they may have drawn from their parents’ association with Native American spirituality. Their latest album titled Tales of a GrassWidow is based on the idea of child marriage, specifically about a real five year old girl’s views of the world after being married off to a man. Their vocals over the song “After the Afterlife” are freakishly taunting but seducing over the course of its play. As awkward or weird that these women may be, their music brings forth interesting philosophies about the earth, innocence, and feminism. Go check them out and their mysterious ways!
