There’s no doubt about it, young Keith Richards was one guitar slinging babe. Even if he looks like a prune these days as a result of the heavy life he has led. At 70 years old, the man still rocks it as though it were 1972. We were personal witness to this after seeing the Stones perform three times last year, which included their forever legendary performance at the underground L.A. venue, the Echoplex.

The iconic photo above was shot in 1972 by the late and great rock photographer, Jim Marshall. The Rolling Stones marked their first decade as a band with the release of Exile on Main St. and a summer concert tour of America that set new standards for magnificence in live performance. You can purchase Jim Marshall’s book, The Rolling Stones 1972 here. It captures some of the greatest moments in Stones history.
