Peter Murphy and Ringo Deathstarr take the El Rey despite a minimal 4th of July audience

The godfather of goth, Peter Murphy, took over the El Rey this this past 4th of July weekend with two back-to-back shows on the Thursday the 3rd and Saturday the 5th. Touring in support of his tenth solo album, Lion, despite low ticket sales (show was moved from the Fonda to the El Rey), the venue was full of die-hard Peter Murphy fans who had travelled great distances to see the master at work. The tour definitely did not pull the same numbers as his “Celebrating 35yrs of Bauhaus” tour, but long-time fans were more than pleased to see their idol perform live.

Opening the show was the Austin based indie-rock / shoe gaze band, Ringo Deathstarr. Check out our photo gallery below of Peter Murphy and Ringo Deathstarr!
