The Strokes to headline The Smell in Downtown Los Angeles

UPDATED (July 27, 2014 — 9:55 a.m.): According to FYF’fs Twitter, the Strokes will not be playing at the Smell on Sat. Aug. 23. Well, this a major bummer. We hope BandsInTown of whoever updates their misleading listing. We’re not down with false advertising.

It looks like the Strokes have announced a VERY small-venue show at The Smell in Downtown L.A.! According to the BandsInTown alert below, The Strokes will headline The Smell on Saturday, Aug. 23 before they take the big stage at FYF Fest on Sunday, Aug. 24. Also on the bill are Flying Lotus,Earl Sweatshirt,Mac DeMarco,Blood Orange,Four Tet,Todd Terje,deafheaven,The Blood Brothers,Ryan hemsworth,Thundercat,Kindness,Kelela,Jessy Lanza,Pink Mountaintops,Daphni,Joanna Gruesome,Les Sins,Dunes,Debt,and Michael Vidal. Both Julian and Albert are slated to perform at FYF the same evening of this show. Judging by the size of this lineup, it looks like it may be an FYF after party. If that’s the case, the Stokes will surely hit the stage at the Smell on the late night. We’re not quite sure how all these performances are gonna go down at such a tiny venue, but as soon as we have more info we’ll be sure to update this post.

A small venue show with The Strokes doesn’t surprise us. If you recall back in 2011, the Strokes were supposed to play Pehrspace. Let’s hope this show at the Smell actually happens!
