A couple months ago we ran a Hot Band Alert interview feature with Mary Timony and her new band, Ex Hex. Now the all-female power trio including Laura Harris and Betsy Wright are ready to release their highly anticipated debut full-length, Rips (out October 7th on Merge). Lucky for you, instead of waiting until Oct. 7 to give this album a spin, Ex Hex has made their record available for you to stream one week before it’s release date.
Most of Rips was written and recorded in Timony’s basement in D.C over a few days. And, while at times the record shows it’s punk ferocity, most of the tracks are hookworm affairs that are just as easy to like as they were to record.
Ex Hex have a Los Angeles show date coming up at The Echo on Oct. 12 with Speedy Ortiz. Grab tickets because it will sell out. Their debut album, Rips will hit the streets Oct. 7, but until then you can stream it below.
