Vintage Gold: Gang of Four "To Hell With Poverty" - Classic Video

British post-punk rockers Gang of Four have been sharing their spirited sound and influencing the likes of Flea, Kurt Cobain and others since they formed in 1977. The group is currently scheduled to release their new album, What Happens Next, in February 2015, followed by a North American Tour. The current lineup is fronted by sole original member, guitarist Andy Gill and the new album features guest vocalists Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Robbie Furze (The Big Pink) and German singer Herbert Gronemeyer who most certainly infuse a special twist to the music. Despite the changes the band has been through, upon listening to a few new songs, such as “Broken Talk,” they maintain a connective tissue to their past – never completely losing their choppy beats, driven vocals and deep, underlying funk bass groove. The clever balance of a cool nonchalance and yet also a sense of urgency with each yip, yowl and lyric, both past and present, fuels their musical fervor. Gang of Four haven’t forgotten who they were and they are also openly transforming into what they have yet to become. It is equally pleasing to look forward to what lies ahead and to stroll down memory lane, seeing how the past has helped shape their journey. For Gang of Four it’s in with the new, but never out with the old!
