Florence + the Machine have released a beautiful 10-minute short film which features the powerful “Queen of Peace” and “Long & Lost.” Both songs are off Florence’s latest full-length release, How Big How Blue How Beautiful. The dramatic short was shot on and around the Scottish isle of Easdale, with frequent collaborator Vincent Haycock. With breathtaking views of the Scottish landscape, the video was all shot in the harsh cold weather.
“We shot in the winter and it was cold, brutal and endlessly inspiring, which I think really helped the story of Florence’s struggle with her family, the younger innocence vs. the feuding violence of the men around her, etc,” shares Haycock. “The end of the video was done in a single take, at the very last seconds of light during a stormy barge ride on a freezing sea. The effort and focus on both the actors and crew was so amazing, Florence delivers one of my favorite moments to date and it’s one of my proudest technical and narrative accomplishments.”
We recently caught Florence + The Machine’s blissful performance at Bonnaroo. She is slated to headline Austin City Limits this October and play select U.S. dates this fall, with stops including two nights at the Hollywood Bowl on October 16 and 17. You can get tickets here.
