Democratic presidential contender, Bernie Sanders held his final California rally at San Francisco’s Crissy Field yesterday; just one day prior to the state’s Democratic primary. California holds the largest number of delegates of any state and as a result has witnessed aggressive campaigning from Sanders in recent weeks. Joining Bernie for this event were musical guests Dave Matthews, Fantastic Negrito, Fishbone, and Yarn, a band based in Bernie’s home town, Brooklyn. Speakers included Dr Cornel West, Hawaii representative Tulsi Gabbard, Nina Turner, actor Danny Glover and San Francisco supervisor, Jane Kim. In recent weeks Sanders has made multiple appearances in northern California that included several stops in the bay area alone.
It was a picturesque day at Crissy Field. With the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, the rally moved through several musical sets punctuated by speeches. Dr Cornel West and Nina Turner are both forceful speakers and gave two of the most dramatic and memorable. Sanders remained on point with themes he’s struck throughout his campaign such as income inequality, fracking, healthcare and more. Sanders, as well as others often emphasized the importance of this election as well as the primary tomorrow. It is believed by Bernie and his supporters that though it would be difficult to overcome the current lead Clinton currently enjoys, it is not totally outside the realm of possibilities, but the key to that is California . T
Today is a very big day for the Sanders campaign as they have high hopes California voters come through.
