Seriously, Bomba Estéreo for the win!

Colombia’s Bomba Estéreo’s new video for “Soy Yo” is easily one of the best videos we’ve seen in 2016. Featuring a sassy and fiercely confident young little Latina, who kind of reminds us of “Yo soy Betty, la fea” (aka Ugly Betty). Despite her quirky style (Crocs and all), lack of athletic skills and interesting dance moves (The Sprinkler included), this little bifocal wearing sweetheart is down for it all. She will charm you and make you smile with her sheer confidence. Not to mention, the song itself is a vibrant mix of beats and addictive hooks. You can’t help but get down with “So Yo.”

Most important of all, is “Soy Yo’s” social awareness. It sends a powerful message to be you and love you. Directed by Danish director Torben Kjelstrup, after the band ran a contest for fans to submit music video concepts, the videos for “Soy Yo” follows the song’s message of respecting people for who they are and being proud of what makes you unique.

“Soy Yo” is off Bomba Estéreo’s GRAMMY-nominated album Amanecer, released last June via Sony Music. The song was recently featured in a major Target ad campaign starring Rita Moreno, as well as the FIFA 2016 video game soundtrack.
