January 24 — The Beatnuts at The Regent
Named after their silly attempt to carry hundreds of records to every show they played as teenage youngsters, The Beatnuts are an old school hip-hop duo from Queens, New York. JuJu and Psycho Les return with a show in downtown L.A. to perform classics like “Off the Books” and “Watch Out now.” Now this is a REAL hip hop show! January 26 — Jesse Malin and Band at The Roxy
Jesse Malin and his band round up at The Roxy in support of the Natty B. Positive Panther Wheelchair Fund. January 27 & 28— Sleep with The Melvins at Fonda Theatre
Stoner doom band Sleep is scheduled to play two back-to-back shows with doom metal band The Melvins! Since the band’s inception in 1990, all they hoped to achieve was to “Make something that was like something you had never heard/felt before even if you had heard/felt it before. Like wind or the yawning subsonic expanse of an earthquake: something undeniably large.” Everyone seems to think so. Get Tickets! 

January 27 — Prof at Echoplex
Minneapolis based rapper Prof derives his sound from, “a history of hardship and partying.” Now with three albums and three mixtapes under his sleeve, Prof has announced his Time Bomb Tour in support of his latest single “Time Bomb.” The two month tour will feature acts Novyon, Metasota,  and Willie Wonka. January 27 — Girlschool at Bootleg Theater
Prepare yourself for this month’s female led festival featuring Chelsea Wolfe, The Bird and the Bee, Francisca Valenzuela, Deap Vally, Tamaryn (DJ set), Pearl Charles, Caroline Smith, Winter, and many more! Girlschool is a collective whose mission is to celebrate and connect women artists, leaders, and voices. January 28 — Shy Girls at Teragram Ballroom
Far from being shy, Dan Vidmar, a.k.a Shy Girl first appeared in 2013 with his 80s synthesizing track “Under Attack.” His electro r&b will have you sizzling with all the smooth vibes. New tracks “Why I love” and “Trivial Motion” will have you swooning hard. Shy Girls will be hitting the Teragram Ballroom’s stage with new tracks off his debut album Salt. Get Tickets!

January 28 — Velvet Acid Christ at Complex
Industrial electronic band Velvet Acid Christ has been making waves in the goth music scene since 1994. Bryan Erickson, the band’s only member since the start recently announced the addition of another member, Shiva playing keys, piano, and guitars. January 28 — Soulection Six Year Anniversary at The Novo
The six year anniversary of record label Soulelection comes to The Novo. “With music as the foundation, Soulection exists to inspire a shift in passive consumption placing value on community, discovery, transparency, DIY growth and the artistry of music.” Attendees can expect artists from the label’s roster such as Sam Gellaitry, Sango, Lakim, Jo Def, DPat, and many more! Get Tickets!
