Los Angeles duo Tree Machines have released the video for their upbeat synth pop jam “Up For Air.” The video features a young female walking the streets of Downtown LA as she struggles with that horrid 9-5 life. In the end, a heavy anchor is lifted as the subject takes a bold leap and follows her dreams. Truth to be told, this something many of us, especially those with a creative soul, have struggled with. It takes a lot of moxy, and sometimes a huge pay cut to follow your artistic endeavors. The heart wants what the heart wants.
“The style was meant to reflect a dream-like state of being in the cycle of a 9-to-5 job, while yearning for artistic freedom. The inspiration I drew from their music influenced this concept for the video in beautiful ways.”
~ Andrew Shepherd, Director
“I got to act like a jerk boss on camera, throwing papers and yelling. It was cathartic. I mean, I’m the embodiment of my dislike for the corporate world in the video, but it’s fun to play dress up!”
~ Patrick Aubry, Tree Machines

Tree Machines are Douglas Wooldridge (vocalist, lyrics), bandmate Patrick Aubry, and producer Mike Giffin (all three contribute to the band’s various instrumentation and music). Tree Machines just released their debut full-length on Sept. 22 via via Man In The Machine. The new album follows-up Tree Machines’ 2015 selt-titled debut EP, which contained the single “Fucking Off Today,” a difficult -to-ignore opening salvo that expressed Midwestern malaise in a new way. Considering these guys are originally from Kansas, this is something they know all too well.
The band will celebrate with a record release show at the Hotel Cafe this Friday, Sept. 29! Tickets are available here.
