In a near effortless exercise in optimism, indie-rockers Sure Sure have unveiled the final single from their now released self-titled debut album, a release that instantly cements their breezily enchanting DIY tones into something sublimely delightful. The song, “Giants,” spins itself in the form of a happy-go-lucky warning, one textured by the boys’ distinct wails and orbited by a collection of serendipitous percussion smacks, sunshiny piano twinkles, and light synth glows. Hopeful and cheeky at heart, Sure Sure’s message of wisdom to their dearly beloved is a simple one, howled with an endearing wistfulness: “Don’t let the water burn you baby / Don’t let that driver cut you off / Don’t let the signal turn you baby / Just come on over, I’ll get you off.” With an already obvious penchant for fun but heartening lyrics, as well as layered melodies that are as gleefully driving as they are erratically original, Sure Sure’s “Giants” and subsequent debut make them a band you cannot afford to lose track of in 2018.
