dream phases

When I spoke to Brandon Graham a few months ago, he hinted at a plethora of upcoming material from his relatively new project, Dream Phases. Today, an album cycle is supposed to last months, where bands must coordinate social media campaigns with new assets all while playing live shows too. Graham throws all that out the window in the coming months, with plans to put out an EP and LP to bookend the band’s European tour happening in September. Listen to the brand new single, “To Walk Away,” lifted from their Clear Skies EP, exclusively below.

The new track is a reflection on maturity. There are numerous poetic images that shade Graham’s stubborn and anxious reactions to lost love, describing a cat’s icy stare and a dog’s keen sense of smell. A chorus of guitars ring out with hints of an organ in the background, and several background vocals to add to Graham’s own. Ultimately, though, he concedes that the best solution is to just walk away from the emotional turmoil that keeps his head spinning.

Clear Skies will be out on September 4th on Nomad Eel Records—vinyl presses will include the band’s debut EP, Maybe Tomorrow, as well; pre-orderMr. Midnight is the next LP from Dream Phases, which will be released in October on Geertruida. Follow Dream Phases on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates. Find their upcoming tour dates below.
