What’s worse: living in ignorance or knowing that there’s something you don’t know? Young Creatures have an existential crisis over this question in their brand new single, premiering today exclusively on Grimy Goods. Listen to “Something I Don’t Know” below.
The local trio has shuffled around the city for years, exposing Angelenos to their lighthearted, skeptical indie rock. Their newest features a melody replicated on guitar and synth as if ending each measure with a question mark, in turn channeling dissonant disbelief in an otherwise warm track.

We always have, but we pulled this song apart a bit more before building it back up. The song aims to stand for that part in us that remains unknown.” – Young Creatures[/perfectpullquote]
The questions that Young Creatures pose are not easy to answer, of course. Singer Mike Post is exasperated by his quandary, especially when he admits that he “should be over it by now.” He describes growing out of a childlike sense of wonder, which leads contemplation of death and afterlife. But when it comes to figuring out our purpose, who among us hasn’t been relentless in seeking some answers?
