Bridie Monds-Watson, the cutting singer/songwriter behind SOAK, has shared the video for her single “Knock Me Off My Feet” off her upcoming sophomore album Grim Town. The 22-year-old  tackles all manner of small-town mania on the album, mingling a suffocating nostalgia for adolescence with the disorienting modernity of her early adulthood, and the new single is a glowing intro to its thematics. A lighthearted romp through the double-edged attitudes of rebellion and angst that Birdie wrestled with growing up in within the bounds of her neighborhood, imagined in the film as a nervous but determined box race car driving. Monds-Watson really digs her nails into the sense of wanton belonging we all have growing up that, when rejected by the community or culture or people around us, can send us spiraling. There’s a preserverence mixed with a begrudging affection for something that’s caused pain and confusion for Monds-Watson that emerges as this sublime wilting of driving indie-rock and the young singer’s spry vocals.

SOAK will be going on tour this spring making a stop at the Moroccan Lounge on February 5 in Los Angeles. Her album Grim Town is out April 26 via Rough Trade Records, preorder it here. Visit her website and Facebook to stay updated on future releases and tour announcements.
