Since their last full-length LP Plum, L.A.-based band Wand announce new album Laughing Matter out April 19th via Drag City. The band recently shared their moody performance video for the first single “Scarecrow”. Directed by Gordon De Los Santos, the video features eerily dark shots of the band mixed in with contemplative close-ups.

With a hefty discography that interplays between nutty garage rock and somber melodies, we can only expect magnificence from these textural chameleons.

With atmospheric beginnings, pronounced but minimal piano chords, and the interpolation of soft-whispery vocals, “Scarecrow” builds upon itself with a subtle yet powerful smack.

The album itself is described as a “a record about love in a time of terror” that “[calls] us down from panic room labyrinths to work the deep tissue of unraveling trauma we all carry so dear.” With such promises, we can only hope by letting Wand’s latest endeavor seep through our ears we can experience even a small sense of relief from the modern hellscape we are presented on a daily basis.
