Hallelujah! Salvation is real! Priests are back to bless us with a brand new full length album, an upcoming beast of a tour and a few music videos and singles to tide us over until then.

Priests will arrive in Los Angeles on June 27 with a headline date at the Teragram Ballroom in Downtown L.A.

Priests’ full length album, The Seduction of Kansas, arrived April 5th via Sister Polygon Records and has been well worth the wait.

In celebration of the album’s release, the band recently shared a music video for the single Jesus’ Son. Vocalist Katie Alice Greer teamed up and co-directed the video with David Ashton and created what can arguably be described as a raw, reminiscent of the 90’s, grand-scale “live performance” music video. The camera footage is shaky and constantly moving, with rough zooms and hard turns. It’s very much a beautifully orchestrated chaos, captured in a rough, yet eloquent way.

The band had this to say about the new video:

“The mythology of a rock band relies heavily on building a captivating arsenal of visual signifiers, one of which is often a ‘live performance’ music video. I put quotations around live performance because usually these are theatrically staged pantomimes of what the band would like the viewer to believe the actual live experience of their work to be like. We decided to try our hand at this as an expression of our identity— we are, in fact, a rock band— and so, we pay homage to those who have come before us (Blink 182, the Stone Roses, the Smiths, and perhaps most explicitly here, Nine Inch Nails). So now you know, in case you didn’t before: we are a rock band. Hope you enjoy the song and video.”

And rock they do! Priests new video hits that nail right on the head and with the bright, often washed out colors and electrifying performance, one can’t help but feel nostalgic.
