In Velvet get delicately sensuous in the slick grooves of “Come Thru”

L.A.-based future soul-R&B duo In Velvet has shared a slick new single to kick off the new decade in the form of “Come Thru.” Elegant and polished rhythms of old-school R&B mingle with a touch of modernity on the duo’s latest release, steeped in a lush pool of overlayed vocal work that is at once soothing as it is delicately sensuous.

Caught somewhere between the cavalier vocalizations of Glass Animals and elastic melodics of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, In Velvet find something organic and fresh in the deep grooves of their new-age love song. Their music has been heard on KCRW, dublab, KTLA 5, The People’s Choice Awards, and NCIS: LA. With plans to release an upbeat funk song in 2020 and to bring their multi-instrumental, funk-soaked act to the stage, In Velvet belong on your radar for the new year.

“‘Come Thru’ is an homage to laid-back 1970’s Funk/R&B and West Coast G-Funk… combining funky bass with lush production, smooth vocal harmonies and memorable melodies,” the band said of the new single. “As far as the lyrics, they’re pretty straight forward (haha).  Sometimes you need simple words for a simple feeling. Sometimes you just want that special someone to come thru.”
