Midwestern band Disq, freshly signed to Saddle Creek, are gearing up to release their debut album, ‘Collector’ out March 6. The Madison, Wisconsin born band dropped a tasty teaser earlier this month, their newest single, “Daily Routine.” Tour dates announced with Los Angeles concert at The Echo.

The song is a grungetastic preview of their highly anticipated album and an acid washed stroll down memory lane, harboring a solid 90s vibe and aesthetic fully equipped with crunchy guitar solos and an on purpose awkwardness captured in a music video for the song that would make the likes of Weezer and Ween proud.

“Daily Routine’ is a song about an intense personal struggle,” said Disq guitarist and vocalist Isaac deBroux-Slone. “In dark times, life can feel like a cycle that I’m trapped in- repeating over and over with no means of escape. It’s easy to fall into a void, thinking that everybody else has it all figured out, while losing sight of the fact that many others feel exactly the same way.”

There is a tongue-in-cheek nature to Disq that isn’t afraid to criticize or praise their hometown, the band noting they are proud to be from a flyover state. Growing up in a flyover state has contributed greatly to the band’s sound, and “Daily Routine” is no different. It’s a song that sums up its surroundings and showcases the young musicians embarking on a new journey together as they find their way sonically and elsewhere. Its lyrics resonate with all the band members and speak to their generation, one that is bombarded with information but with little context for it.

“It’s such a weird time for young people all over right now,” said Broux-Sione. “It’s characterized not just by introspection, but urgency. It feels sometimes like that’s the only thing to write about.”

After the release of ‘Collector’ and a stop at SXSW, the band will head out on a North American tour in the spring with a stop at the Echo in Los Angeles on April 21. Supporting Disq on part of their tour are Grimy Goods faves, Girl Friday.
