Los Angeles-based Flat Worms have shared the lead single from their upcoming album Antarctica in the form of “Market Forces,” a driving, raucous call-to-action that meets existential dread head-on with fierce hope. The track, which tackles the “over-commodified social media mirror image” and questions whether the paralyzing angst of the 21st century is a hurdle we can’t overcome, is fraught with heady switchbacks between hammered riffs and driving percussion.
Comprised Will Ivy (guitar), Tim Hellman (bass) and Justin Sullivan (drums), Flat Worms endeavor on “Market Forces,” and Antarctica as a whole, to confront in earnest the low hanging dread that’s settled over the future–droning on in caustic humor and tongue-in-cheek bleakness–that perhaps not all is lost just yet.
Flat Worms will be going on tour this year with a stop at Zebulon in Los Angeles on May 8. Their new album Antarctica is out April 10, pre-order here. Visit their Instagram to stay updated on new releases and tour announcements.
