U.S. Girls Proclaim the Value of an American Dollar Alongside Heavy Light LP Announcement

us girls band

Toronto’s U.S. Girls, aka musician and producer Meg Remy, is back with two new songs cut from a new album, Heavy Light. The upbeat energy of “4 American Dollars” and “Overtime” adds a new layer to the rich storytelling that fans have come to expect. U.S. Girls are headed on tour to share new tunes; luckily, Angelenos will have two chances to see U.S. Girls at the Masonic Lodge, supported by Jack Name on April 22nd ,and by Bonjay on April 23rd. More tour dates below.

Best LA Songs of the month

My favorite aspect of “4 American Dollars” is its dry, nearly caustic humor. The track opens the forthcoming U.S. Girls record, setting a lighter tone than on her 2018 album, In a Poem Unlimited, while losing none of Remy’s wit. It is followed by “Overtime” on Heavy Light, which tells a more insular story yet shares a spirited choir. On “4 American Dollars,” extra voices chime in to decry all currencies and money in general, while on “Overtime,” they haunt a widow who is reckoning with the loss of a husband she barely knew. It sounds dark, but a guitar’s sass and a vengeful sax add up to a great time.

Grab tickets to U.S. Girls at the Masonic on April 22nd here; tickets to the second night will be announced soon. Pre-order Heavy Light via 4AD. Follow the band on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook
