The new single from Yellow Days would never do you wrong. Known as “Treat You Right,” it is the first glimpse we have into the sounds that the artist born George van den Broek has been cooking Stateside; while in LA, he laid down grooves with more than a few accomplished collaborators who themselves have worked with Raphael Saadiq, Frank Ocean, Weldon Irvine, and others. Now, van den Broek is ready to release. Coming nearly a year after a couple of memorable summer singles, “Treat You Right” casts a warm glow worthy of a slow, summer night.
Fans of Magic Bronson will appreciate the downtempo funk of Yellow Days. Romance is in the air on “Treat You Right,” illuminated by fireflies buzzing about. van den Broek’s voice strains as he professes his feelings over a funky bassline meant for a close dance on a secluded dancefloor. Glockenspiel and keyboard melodies peek through at perfect moments to add that soulful Yellow Days flair; his as-yet unnamed album is sure to provide every groove one could need.
