For Chicago born, now L.A. based, artist appleby, 2021 has been a year of growth and expansion, both professionally and personally. The convergence of life experience and catharsis of making music culminated this year into appleby’s latest EP, While You We’re Sleeping, a project that explored the young artist’s emotions and mental state while also providing the chance to work with his romantic partner Annie Rhodes Kane, a photographer and director also in Los Angeles, on visuals for his new music.

Sorting through all the ups and downs of the last few years and pulling in close the ones who matter most to him, appleby’s music resonates with anyone trying to go deeper in their interpersonal connections. With a chill, ambient sound, appleby weaves in reflective lyrics with subtle and almost meditative rhythms. From his 2018 musical debut to now, appleby has steadily grown a fan base of eager listeners, embedded in the soft truths and captivating nature of an artist who distills himself so earnestly into his music. His soulful blend of genres and understated style of singing bring out a sense of vulnerability and gravity in his work that makes listening to his music a holistic experience.

Ending the year with over 2.6 million streams on Spotify, appleby comes into 2022 with more clout, more experience and surely more to offer.
