Hooveriii announces tour dates with a Los Angeles concert date at Gold Diggers on Aug. 6. The Los Angeles psych-rock band, Hooveriii is all set to release their brand new album A Round of Applause on July 29 via The Reverberation Appreciation Society. See is the first song off the forthcoming album and you can stream the new jam below.

“See’ is about trying not to take life for granted. Some things are easier said than done. It’s our first song to feature Anna Wallace singing along with us and it came together rather seamlessly. It was a pretty bare bones jangle jam until the band filled it with ear candy.” Says the band’s founder Bert Hoover.

The Trona Pinnacles in Trona, California, was the unique site of the video’s 16mm filming. Known for its other worldly landscape, the video features aliens stranded on Earth attempting to find their way home, but things go horribly wrong. Nikki Houston and Owen Summers came up with the idea to direct this innovative music video.

Hooveriii is made up of founder Bert Hoover, Gabe Flores (guitar and vocals), Kaz Mirblouk (bass), James Novick (synthesizer) and Owen Barrett (drums). When comparing the band’s last album, 2021’s Water for the Frogs, listeners will notice a slight difference in sound with A Round of Applause being more like a pop album as opposed to a psych jammer. Hooveriii used the change as a palate cleanser, paying homage to the Canterbury scene on occasion.

The band drew inspiration from Nick Cave, who once said that experimenting with new ideas continues to fuel his nearly 50-year career. From that thought, Hooveriii decided to take a different approach with their new album. As a result, A Round of Applause was born, a record that is both expansive and experimental at the same time. “Click Your Fingers Applauding the Play” by Roky Erickson was the inspiration for the album title.
