Los Angeles based artist Sharon Silva shares her newest single ”Scorekeeper,” a slow rolling and deeply emotional single about taking charge of powerful feelings that rumble inside us all.
A reminder to the self, “Scorekeeper” helps both writer and listeners understand that even when you feel overwhelmed by an emotional state, or by the combination of many feelings and moods, you are still in control. With light instrumentals, tethered together by a spry piano and Silva’s pensive and nuanced vocals, the song flows with ease like a breeze blowing through a field of tall grass, making subtle ripples as it glides along, caressing each individual blade as it passes through.
“I wrote ‘Scorekeeper’ on a walk through my neighborhood, thinking about how to take responsibility for my own emotions,” Silva explains. “It’s not easy to explain how you feel when you’re overstimulated, and I think this song helped me scratch the surface of how to take a beat, on my own, and organize my thoughts.”
“Scorekeeper” was produced by Ryan Pollie and follows the release of Silva’s 2021 debut single, “Splitting Image,” an equally lofty tune with a soft and tender touch. Formerly a part of the L.A. band, The Wild Reeds, Silva (as well as her previous bandmates who have also ventured into solo territory) is on the precipice of her own solo juncture and just finished recording her debut album (also with Pollie as producer) with more new singles to come this year. She will also join David Ramirez on his North American tour beginning on June 15.
