Multi instrumentalist Luis Vasquez, better known by his band name, The Soft Moon, shares a new video for his single ”Him.” Visceral, industrial and with hardcore punk-grunge vibe, “Him” and its new music video are pulsating with contrasting energy and attitude.

Centered on the idea that we are our own worst enemies, ”Him” is a grappling single that wrestles with the concepts of morality and corrupt behavior. Knowing that he has the potential for both, Vasquez lays out his internal brawl for the world to see.

“I struggle with ‘good side/bad side’ endlessly,” notes Vasquez. “‘Him’ recounts that battle, expressing the turmoil it brings into my life.”

Depicting Vasquez in various high intensity scenes — from him running through a crowded outdoor space, fumbling around in a room surrounded by outdated tv sets to being chased by a nefarious individual — the music video is a barrage of chaotic imagery. The angst and colliding emotions expressed in the single are brought to fruition as a disjointed, confusing cross section of inner struggle, personified in a physical space, as one tries not to get caught up in an endless cycle of self sabotage.

“I am persistently running away from something devilish on my shoulders tempting me into mischievous behavior portrayed by fish narc,” notes Vasquez.

“Him” is the lead single for The Soft Moon’s upcoming album, Exister. A daring and emotionally drenched new LP, Exister encapsulates the juxtaposition of life and our existence in general.

“The whole point of this record was to share every emotion that I feel,” says Vasquez. “No two songs are the same. It’s about existing in the world as a human being and experiencing many emotions and experiences throughout life.”

Exister drops September 23 via Sacred Bones Record. Pre-order/pre-save the record here.
