Multi-genre artist Steve Lacy drops his latest single “Sunshine,” a soulful and beautifully orchestrated collaboration with artist and friend Fousheé. Featured on his upcoming sophomore album, Gemini Rights, due out July 15 on RCA Records, “Sunshine” is another glimmering puzzle piece to Lacy’s growth as an artist. With the track’s release comes a beautiful and minimalistic music video directed by rubberband.

With a rich neo-soul sound, “Sunshine” is a roomy and airy breakup song, with an easy rhythm and groove that rides along smoothly as Lacy and Fousheé trade vocals back and forth, providing a pleasing push and pull effect as the two interpret the slightly jaded, slightly reminiscing lyrics.

The music video, while minimalistic, is an incredible feat of creativity, showcasing Lacy and Fousheé with a backing band as they perform the new single. Both artists are hooked up to cables so they can be suspended in mid-air as they sing – a brave, surprising and uplifting (both visually and mentally) element.

“Sunshine” is the third single release from Lacy this year, following “Mercury” and “Bad Habit” – the latter also being a recent Billboard Hot 100 entry. While all three singles give listeners a peak into what’s to come with Gemini Rights, the album is an amalgam of various influences, moods, thoughts and experiences distilled in an eclectic musical style.

Written, produced, and played pretty much entirely by Lacy, Gemini Rights is an incredible leap forward for the 24-year-old artist who has already established himself as a true cultural force to be reckoned with. Pre-save the album here.
