Since its founding in 1992 as a nonprofit, the Pacífico Dance Company has made a point of preserving and promoting both classical and modern Mexican dance styles. Led by Adriana Astorga-Gainey, the company’s works include Frida Kahlo, the Legend on La Llorona, Calacas Clandestinas, and the Virgin of Guadalupe.
This time they’re bringing their culturally colorful explorations to the Ford stage to look at the diversity inherent in the Mexican landscape. The night will feature two specific dance suites that will look at the history of the country, one shaped by colonialism, but also influenced deeply by African and Mexican Amerindians.
