June is International Pride Month. Not only is it a celebration of queer joy, gender fluidity, and unapologetic self-expression, but it is a time for the LGBTQ community and their Allies to uplift LGBTQ voices, culture, and rights with love, compassion, and understanding.

Here in Los Angeles, we kicked off the first weekend of Pride with Outloud Festival, a 3-day festival created in conjunction with the city of West Hollywood in the heart of LA’s LGBTQ community. Outloud brought in the big stars and a massive crowd for their free opening night thanks to fan favorites Tinashe and Jessie Ware, RuPaul’s Drag Race Diva, Shangela, and Broadway’s Idina Menzel. To close out the weekend, Ms.”Call Me Maybe,” Carly Rae Jepsen headlined alongside Passion Pit, who made their first concert appearance since 2017.

Now Saturday night’s lineup was immaculate. Unfortunately, I had to miss out on the incomparable Grace Jones’s performance and all the incredible artists for that day, so I’ve been searching the inter-webs for any clips I can find. Ultimately, I have an intense sense of FOMO from missing out now.
Nevertheless, I had a fantastic time and can’t wait for the next one. I have some new favorites and recommendations for you as well. If you have yet to listen to DRAMA, Meet Me @ The Alter, and Tolliver — I highly recommend you get hip to them ASAP. These performers had some of my favorite sets of the weekend.
