Elohim has shared a new song in the form of the ethereally rapt track “Afraid To Fail,” she will also be going on tour this fall with a stop at The Novo in Los Angeles on October 5th. The single is the latest from the enigmatic singer/songwriter and producer that teases her forthcoming album, which will serve as the follow-up to last year’s spellbinding lesson in introspection Journey to the Center of Myself (Abridged). Previous singles include the ecstatically beaming “Breathe” and ravenous dance track “AVA.”

One of the hallmark pleasures of Elohim’s music has always been this collision of heady dance sonics and an unabashedly vulnerable lyricism. Her latest offering “Afraid To Fail” is about as combustive as it gets — caught as it is between concussive electropop and a visceral portrait of internalized dread. “If you know what it’s like to be on the other end of nothing / Then you know why I’m like the way I am,” she murmurs on the track’s dreamy opening moments.

But that otherworldly serenity doesn’t stay unbroken for long. As the beat kicks in and a clamorous electronica cascade explodes, Elohim finds herself caught in the middle offering fiery exultation as she cries repeatedly: “I’m afraid to fail.”

Like so much of her music, there is something intensely cathartic about the ways in which she transforms her vulnerabilities into thunderous rallying cries. Syncing them to these fearsomely energizing soundscapes that are impossible to resist. She actually just debuted the track at Bonnaroo, and it was unsurprisingly met with raving delight by fans.
