Ergo, Bria has shared another explosive single with the release of “:)” which arrives as a kind of raucous public service announcement. The new song follows the release of her previous singles “Guilty” (feat. Amai) and “Nobody Can Stop Me (I’m Gonna Be Like Madonna)” (feat. Troi Irons). The project of singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, session musician, and producer Bria McCollum, her music is defined by its relentless emotional and sonic pyrotechnics.

The message at the heart of “:)” is simple but necessary: when you see a Nazi, you kick a Nazi. Ergo, Bria is characteristically unapologetic about both the song’s grilling guitars and her refusal to “give them any grace.” Deliciously volatile and spectacularly riotous the song gives goes right for the throat (or in this case the face) as she gives voice to the frustration with which society has become all the more accommodating of fascists who literally wear their bigotry on their sleeve.

Against the calamitous crash of drums and scorching riffs that thunder through the song, she acts out a sweet fantasy of retribution. “When the world is crashing down gonna end them all,” Ergo, Bria seethes before letting out a merciless howl: “Wake up / Break them / Pin them against the wall.” It’s a fiery anthem created to beat back the tide of Nazis coming out of the woodwork and the kind of barn burner that will make her already formidable shows all the more rousing.
