With the release of their new song “Can I Talk My Sh*t” comes the announcement that Vagabon (Lætitia Tamko) is prepping the release of her third album Sorry I Haven’t Called on September 15th. She will also perform at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles on December 13th as part of a newly announced tour in support of the album.

As the opening track for Sorry I Haven’t Called the new single “Can I Talk My Sh*t” introduces the buoyant candor with which Vagabon now articulates. “I didn’t feel like being introspective,” she said in reference to the album. Instead, the song sees her speaking earnestly and plainly, addressing her still confessional alt-pop to her closest friends and past lovers.

“Can I be honest? I— / I’ve been in the house spinning out,” she asks against the tumble of effervescent beats. “Now I’m coming down so low / Never found myself getting so caught up.” Characterized by its casual conversational nature, the song finds Vagabon at her most vivacious and lucid.

“Can I Talk My Sh*t” also comes with a music video directed by Zac Dov Wiesel that opens with Vagabon stepping out of a behemoth tow truck in the middle of a desert road. Wearing a metal bustier and wielding a long chain, for a moment she resembles a kind of dystopian road warrior. But as soon as the beat kicks in she starts dancing — atop the junker she’s towing, atop the tow truck, and in a field of rusting cars — as mesmerizing shots of the colors of a desert dusk silhouette her.

Co-produced by both Tamko and Rostam (Vampire Weekend, Haim, Clairo) the 12-track album signals a jovial seachange for the artist — one she discovered in the midst of grief. Its first single “Carpenter” is an exuberant dance track that offers the same blissful catharsis as the raves she attended while writing the album in seclusion in Germany.
