Carla Morrison has achieved a new milestone in her illustrious career with her very first English-language song with the release of the momentously emotional “Everything Was For Love.” She is also currently on tour with multiple SoCal dates including a stop at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on August 12th. The new single serves as an alternative version of her recently released “Todo Fue Por Amor.”

Like the original Spanish song, Morrison’s latest was created for the recently released film “Con Esta Luz” (With This Light). Which tells an awe-inspiring story of human empathy and perseverance in its chronicling of the altruistic life of Honduran Sister Maria Rosa Leggol. A woman who for seven decades until her passing aided and nurtured 87,000 children through her non-profit Sociedad Amigos de los Niños.

But “Everything Was For Love” also arrives as the iconic Mexican indie artist’s debut wielding an English lyricism. With the help of her husband Alejandro Jimenez and legendary Guatemalan singer/songwriter Gaby Moreno, they translated the original carefully and tenderly. Preserving its heartwarming grandiosity while also finding the right words to accentuate its soaring and triumphant compassion in another language.

Against the solitary gloaming of piano keys, Morrison’s vocals appear as a luminous guiding light. One that is slowly but surely joined by a softly swelling crescendo of strings and earnest bass. Soon the ballad’s spacious atmosphere is overflowing with the elated rise and fall of its surging melody. Morrison’s gleaming words embody this soul-assuaging radiance that captures the sublime love that inspired it.

“Everything Was For Love” also comes with a heartwarming and tear-jerking music video directed by Laura Castellanos and produced by Jessy Terrero. It splices together shots of Morrison performing the song at a picturesque chapel in the woods and also embracing some of the children who’ve been helped over the years. But it also includes moving scenes from the film that reveal the generational effects and appreciation for Sister Rosa’s work.

“I really enjoyed writing this song. Sister Maria Rosa and I both love helping people heal through our work, so it came very effortlessly,” Morrison said of the single. “When I first sat down at the piano to compose the song I asked heaven to enlighten me— it felt as if both Sister Maria Rosa and my late father were whispering the lyrics to me.”

“Creating this beautiful song about a maternal, universal, and boundless love became a spiritual and unique experience which was only made better by the English translation. Our incredibly talented friend Gaby Moreno helped us not only adapt the original Spanish lyrics into English, but also helped us communicate the true sentimentality of this song which I’m very grateful for.”
