Mykki Blanco has loosed a ravenously transfixing summer banger with the release of “Holidays In The Sun,” the first track to arrive off their forthcoming Postcards From Italia EP. The project is the first bit of music the relentlessly avant-garde artist has shared in the wake of last year’s endlessly captivating collection of genre-fluidity, Stay Close To Music. The new single serves as the introduction to what Blanco calls their “Italian cowboy era.”

In a twist of irony, contrary to the radiant and thrashing beats that fill “Holidays In The Sun,” the track was conceived in a Portuguese basement right in the middle of winter on Christmas Eve. Not on the kind of sandy Mediterranean shore the song — produced by William Eaves of Somerset — evokes with its hypnotic invocation of 90’s Euro dance. Blanco characteristically cranks up the allure that gushes from the track’s syncopating rhythms and thrumming bass as they weave their vocals through a gauntlet of ecstatic rave sonics.

Blanco is joined on “Holidays In The Sun” by ZamZam who lends their backing vocals the gleaming revolutions of melody that turn and churn hotly within its enrapturing soundscape. Everything about it obliges you to wring out every drop of euphoric energy that remains of summer. From the earnestly chanting repetitions of its title to Blanco’s fiery swagger — it all spells a recipe for a final rapturous hurrah into the waning swelter of August.

Blanco said of the single: “[‘Holidays In The Sun’] is a feel-good summer anthem about lazy summer days swimming in the sea, hopping from one music festival to the next, feeling good about life and living la dolce vita soaking up the sun. The song is a summer rave bop with nods to 90s euro dance and acid house stretching itself, hitting every corner of the world from the beaches of Ibiza and Naples to warehouses parties in London and Berlin. ENJOY!”
