Louisiana singer/songwriter Britti weaves soul and Americana-folk together on her forthcoming debut album Hello, I’m Britti. When the record arrives next month on February 2nd via Dan Auerbach’s label, Easy Eye Sound it will serve as a prismatic introduction to her wayfaring sound, tapping into the magnificently dense roots of the New Orleans music community she’s become further entwined with.

From the moment she was born Britti found herself cradled by the music of her home state. Growing up she was raised by both her mother and grandmother, while her uncle Roland Guerin — a jazz bassist who rubbed shoulders with the likes of Allen Toussaint and Dr. John — introduced her to the world of the stage. It wasn’t long before she started dreaming of the day she wouldn’t just be a face in the crowd but the voice behind the microphone.

But some dreams come with an seemingly never ending toll. Even though Britti eventually made it to New Orleans, she found herself languishing behind the counter of a guitar store. “Giving up when I should be moving on,” she sings on “So Tired,” one of her recent singles. “Never dreamed it would ever take this long.”

One life-altering breakup later she was forced to reckon with the revelation that she was both the person holding herself back and the only one who could alter her trajectory. Somewhere along the way she caught the attention of Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), enlisting him to produce her first record, with four singles surfacing since its announcement. Lead single “Nothing Compares To You” wafts in on a smoldering melody of entangled guitars and warbling horns, Britti’s smokey vocals soaring above its adoring grooves.

On “Keep Running” she echoes the vocal twang and stirring splendor of Dolly Parton, while the slow-churning bluesy ballad “Lullaby” is an enchanting crescendo of refulgent riffs resounding with an uplifting solace. By the time you get through all four you’ll find yourself fully enraptured by what Britti has to offer — and when her album finally drops you better believe it’ll be one of the more dazzling debuts of 2024.
