If Rachel Chinouriri is still not on your radar prepare for a course correction because the U.K. artist is gearing up to release what will go down as one of the highlight debuts of 2024. Not only does her full-length album What A Devastating Turn Of Events arrive on May 3rd but she’ll also be playing her first U.S. headlining gigs this spring, which will feature a stop at The Echoplex in Los Angeles on March 20th.

Over the last few months, Chinouriri has steadily teased the imminent arrival of her debut LP. Sharing rollicking but pensive singles that orient her particular style of driving alt-rock. Often pairing them with cinematically moving and/or playfully amusing music videos: from the London wayfaring “The Hills” and deadbeat denier “Never Need Me,” which starred Florence Pugh.

Since then she’s even shared two acoustic versions of both singles, their stripped-down sonics revealing the powerhouse glow that burns within Chinouriri’s melodious vocals. In total, she’s shared four of the fourteen songs that will appear on What A Devastating Turn Of Events, including the buoyant alt-pop of “All I Ever Asked” and tenderhearted closing track “So My Darling” (Acoustic).

After spending the bulk of 2023 opening for Louis Tomlinson and Lewis Capaldi on the latter’s arena tour, as well as U.K. festival appearances like Barn on the Farm, the new year promises a series of headlining performances that will serve as the biggest of her career thus far. These include dates across England that will crescendo toward a highly anticipated concert at London’s KOKO. From there, she will head across the Atlantic for two sold-out shows at Baby’s All Right in New York, followed by a gig out west at The Echoplex in L.A.

Given her tendency toward electrifying live shows, which has only contributed to growing her passionate following, these are not concerts you want to miss. Though fingers crossed a larger headlining tour in support of the new album is on the way! If you’ve seen any of the videos or photos she’s posted on Instagram you’re well aware of Chinouriri’s ability to work a crowd into an ardent frenzy with her irresistible and gushing rock. It’s no doubt one of the reasons she earned a nomination for The Rising Star Award from Rolling Stone U.K. Awards last year — and why she’ll remain on our radar for the foreseeable future!
