With the announcement of the It’s Time To Feel What’s Really Happening tour, English artist and activist, ANOHNI will make a long-awaited return to the stage alongside her band The Johnsons. The North American dates include a stop at the acoustically breathtaking Walt Disney Concert Hall on September 27-28th, a veritable highlight of the venue’s 2024-2025 season. This year’s tour marks ANOHNI’s first concerts in eight years (fourteen with her band) and that seems to only further assure just how spectacular they’ll be.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, June 14th at 10am local time . Use the presale code WDANOHNI to access presales on Wednesday, June 12th.

ANOHNI’s reemergence at a time of converging political and social upheavals, some horrifically daunting and others boiling over with radical urgency, was not coincidental but rather consequential to those looming factors.

“I am presenting a series of concerts in Mexico, the US and Canada this fall,” she announced. “It is my first time touring since 2016, and first time with a band in 14 years. I feel like I want to sing for people, to affirm that these times are unprecedented, and to hold and express a sense of what’s really happening.”

Anyone familiar with her story or music will know that if there’s any one artist who could deliver such a grandly cathartic set it would be ANOHNI. From the moment she founded The Johnsons in 1998 after moving to New York, she forged a reputation for avant-garde genre experimentation, fusing them with feminist and environmental imperatives. The band’s self-titled debut arrived two years later followed by the breakout release of their sophomore record I Am a Bird Now (2005), which included appearances by a stunning cast of features including Lou Reed, Boy George, Rufus Wainwright, and Devendra Banhart.

ANOHNI released two more albums with The Johnsons before they took a hiatus from new music. But by no means were either remotely inactive during this period. They performed with symphonies all over the globe, with ANOHNI serving as the musical director for a biography of famed performance artist Marina Abramović at the Manchester International Festival. She also gave a TED conference in Long Beach on “Radical Collaboration,” and in that spirit, she worked with laser artist Chris Levine to create a stunning listening of their fourth album Swanlights. Over the years her drawings, sculptures, and multimedia creations have appeared in numerous galleries.

In 2016, ANOHNI embarked on a new stage of her musical journey with a solo project that resulted in a new LP HOPELESSNESS, and EP Paradise. The former reintroduced her sound as an electronic, synth-pop-fueled wave of protest songs. Its danceable melodic overtures take on everything from government surveillance and the use of drones to the impending climate crisis. Punctuating the exigent power of its message her song “Manta Ray” received a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, as featured in the film Racing Extinction. Many of those themes were carried over on The Johnsons’ most recent album My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross.
