Press play on these fresh new sounds from London-based jazz collective Kokoroko. The group’s silky new single, “Three Piece Suit,” features Nigerian-born UK artist Azekel and is full of warm grooves making for an insatiable vibe. The new song, sprinkled with elements of funk, pays tribute to the Nigerian immigrant experience.

Speaking on the track’s lyrics, Onome shares:

“When we wrote the lyrics we were thinking of our grandfathers arriving in London and the way they carried themselves and dressed in the 1960s. They were part of a dapper and suited generation that sowed the seeds for the worlds we’re building now. It speaks to our sentimental memories of a time that we know we can’t have back.”

With a chorus that sings “come back home,” Azekel shares that “the song is about coming back, letting go and realizing that all things, past, present and future are intertwined.”

The new offering is quite the vibe and is accompanied by the announcement of Kokoroko’s forthcoming EP, Get The Message, out November 1st via Brownswood Recordings. The band will tour North America, the UK, and the EU beginning October 10 in Brooklyn. Kokoroko will make a stop in Los Angeles for a headline date at the Fonda Theatre on October 27.
