Following the release of his 2024 EP, Donde, activist/singer-songwriter Xiuhtezcatl, has joined forces with Renata Flores on an equally powerful release, “SÍGUEME.” Although Xiuhtezcatl’s music typically falls into hip-hop, strictly calling it that would be selling the strong, eco and social message at the core of “SÍGUEME.”

Both he and Flores trade verses over the pulsating R&B production, which seeks to soothe rather than disrupt or serve as a call to arms. It’s a fitting decision, with the Spanish and Nahuatl lyrics paying tribute to the “Americas” and the people who first inhabited those lands. The complex history that backs up the single’s sentiments results in a unique atmosphere not defined by sorrow. “SÍGUEME” instead captures a unique sense of longing and wanderlust for a place, whether tangible or otherwise, that, once reached will feel like a long-awaited homecoming
